February 28 (Saturday)

Our band of pastors arrived safely in Israel late this afternoon and drove to Tiberias, on the Sea of Galilee. We have settled into the very comfortable Scots Hotel, shared an excellent dinner, and celebrated Eucharist during a cool and rainy evening. Although tired from the long journey, everyone is feeling quite well and is in very good spirits (even those of us whose bags did not make plane change in Frankfort). We hope to get a good night’s rest and adapt to the time change. The forecast for tomorrow calls for more rain, which is much needed in Israel this season.

Program Description

This 2009 Holy Land Pastoral Renewal program, sponsored by Wake Forest University Divinity School, begins with the idea of pilgrimage, a journey that is both geographic and spiritual. It offers twenty parish ministers an opportunity for spiritual reflection during Holy Land travels in the Galilee and Jerusalem. Amid visits to a variety of sacred places, participants will undertake a spiritual pilgrimage that utilizes the various locales for contemplation and solitude, communal prayer and worship, and extended conversations regarding the spiritual life.
